The Funeral Portrait has a special relationship with their fans affectionately known as the “Coffin Crew.” Lee Jennings, vocalist goes in-depth about the fan community as “you belong here” mentality. He says, “I wanted to make it a little different. I didn’t want it to be like, you know, Funeral Portrait army or whatever…like people use those all the time or like cult or stuff like that, you know? Like, even though now we kind of say the coffin crew cult more, but it’s like still the coffin crew, you know? And so for us, I just wanted something that again, you could be maybe proud to be a member of.”
LA Lloyd will debut the new song from The Funeral Portrait called Dark Thoughts. It’s a song that has been around for a while. However, it was not originally considered to be a single. The band eventually convinced the powers that be to give it a shot as the follow-up to their previous number one songs Suffocate City and Holy Water. According to Lee, “I was diagnosed with OCD during the time of writing this record. And it was, it’s a big thing for me because I am an overthinker in my whole life, but now it makes sense why I am an overthinker, you know? And so it’s cool to be like, ‘Okay, this makes sense. This is why this happened.’ So there was a time where I didn’t sleep for literally like a week because I was in my own head and that’s what our thoughts is all about is being an overthinker.”
