Blacktop Mojo April 16-17, 2022

Blacktop Mojo hails from Palestine, TX.  The band consists of vocalist Matt James, drummer Nathan Gillis, guitarist Chuck Wepfer, and bassist Matt Curtis.  LA Lloyd has seen the band on tour with Buckcherry and most recently…you guessed it on the Shiprocked Cruise.  One thing that stood out on this year’s cruise was the amount of fans wearing Blacktop Mojo t-shirts.  So, LA Lloyd invited Matt to join him to co-host the Rock 30 so the radio audience could get to know this band better.

Matt James from Blacktop Mojo may be soft spoken in interviews, but when he hits the stage, he has a voice that simply wails.  However, as we learn in this interview, Matt recently became a Dad so he may need to use that soft voice around the new baby….Shhhhh.

Another thing we learn about Matt is his love of slasher horror flicks.  Looks like he got to use some of those influences in Blacktop Mojo’s video for Wicked Woman.
