Volbeat’s ninth studio album God Of Angel’s Trust takes the band’s songwriting back to the beginning. According to Michael Poulsen, “There was just something refreshing about kind of having the feeling of starting all over again. How did we want this record to sound like if it was the first Volbeat record? And the conclusion was like if we could kind of find the innocence of how we were writing material from the very beginning where we were just young dudes.”

By A Monster’s Hand is the first single released from God Of Angel’s Trust. When you listen to the song or watch the video, a serial killer probably comes to mind. Michael added, “Of course if you take a little bit into the lyric and see the video people would probably say oh, okay another song about a serial killer here. It could be it could be but I’m not bringing any names off because they don’t deserve credit for anything.”

Before Volbeat released God Of Angel’s Trust, the song In the Barn of the Goat Giving Birth to Satan’s Spawn in a Dying World of Doom was given to the fans. This could be the craziest song title but Michael gave some explanation behind it while writing with the band and said, “People are now gonna wait for that stupid horror flick line In The Barn of the Goat and imagine a stadium or where
we are in the world singing that line, you know, it’s gonna be a lot of great fun. And you know, we have a laugh and it was almost like three 17 year old kids getting back together and just having fun.”
