Tyler Connolly: Still Evolving After All These Years
For more than two decades, Theory of a Deadman has been one of the most consistent bands in modern rock, and Tyler Connolly has become one of the most familiar voices on the LA Lloyd Rock 30. Returning for his 18th appearance, Tyler reflects on the band’s next chapter, why they’re embracing EPs over traditional albums, and how nearly three decades together has only strengthened the band’s chemistry. Winnebago (Lay Low)
The first single from Part 1: Funeral Songs, “Winnebago (Lay Low),” proves Theory of a Deadman hasn’t lost its sense of humor. Behind the outrageous lyrics is a song that captures one of those nights where everything that could go wrong…does. Tyler explains why the band continues to balance serious songwriting with moments that simply remind people to have fun.
Barricade
While “Winnebago” delivers the laughs, “Barricade” explores a much different side of the new EP. Tyler talks about leaving the song open to interpretation, allowing listeners to decide for themselves who—or what—is standing behind the wall. Whether it’s a relationship, a friendship, family, or someone who’s simply drifted away, the song’s meaning changes with the person hearing it, making “Barricade” one of the most relatable tracks on the project.
