LA Lloyd is always searching for up and coming bands to introduce to listeners on the Rock 30. The Dark is a Los Angeles based band that has a 90s influenced sound. Craig Johns Jr, vocalist tells LA Lloyd how his songwriting developed from listening to bands such as Nine Inch Nails, White Zombie, Filter and others.
LA Fires
Along with the music from The Dark that will be discussed, Craig Johns Jr. will tell us his experience living during the Los Angeles fires. Fortunately, he was not directly affected but he has seen up close and personal the devastation that has taken over the city. The Dark has their first headlining show at The Echo in Los Angeles on February 23, 2025. If all goes well, they will be able to pull it off and we send our positive vibes to all affected from the fires in LA.
Slip Away
The video above “Chemicals” was the leadoff track to The Dark’s EP. The follow-up is called Slip Away. As Craig describes the song, “Chemicals was about coping in an unhealthy way. Slip Away is the natural progression of that.”
