Scott Stevens The Exies March 11-12, 2023

Remember The Exies?  Back in 2002, they had a hit on the Rock 30 called My Goddess from the album Inertia which was released in 2003.  Scott Stevens, vocalist reached out to LA Lloyd to remind him of the 20th anniversary of the album.  The best news is Scott has a new song that almost wrote itself.  In September 2020 while Scott was in COVID lockdown, he began working on some chord progressions.  As he listened, these chords were a bit nostalgic and reminded him of their biggest hit Ugly that charted in 2004 and became their biggest hit.  He put this unfinished song away and would revisit it time to time.  Fortunately, this two and a half year process led to the song called Spirits High.

Producer/Songwriter

The Exies called it quits in 2010 but went out with a bang playing an awards show in Russia in front of over 60,000 fans.  It was this time that Scott transitioned into co-writer and producer.  If there’s ever been a person who has been at the right place at the right time over and over again, it’s Scott Stevens.  Working alongside producers Nick Raskulinecz and Marti Fredericksen, he learned his way around the studio.  This led to Scott writing in the early days Tyler Connolly from Theory Of A Deadman beginning his journey to work with Halestorm, Shinedown, Chris Daughtry, Nothing More, Scott Stapp, Dorothy and many more.  Scott tells a great story of his earliest meetings with Lzzy Hale and how the song I Miss The Misery became one of their earliest chart-topping singles.

Separate Ways

Chris Daughtry and his wife watched Stranger Things and heard Journey’s Separate Ways.  He immediately knew he wanted to do this song but wanted it to be a duo.  So, he thought of Lzzy Hale.  She agreed…he ran this idea by Scott Stevens who would eventually be one of the producers on this project and the rest they say is history.
