More Than A Cover Song

Sometimes success isn’t about being discovered—it’s about being remembered for what you wanted people to hear all along.  Ryan Perdz first caught the attention of millions through his online cover performances, but every video had a bigger purpose. He wasn’t chasing viral fame—he was building an audience for the songs he’d been writing himself. Now, after signing with Big Machine Rock, Ryan joins L.A. Lloyd on Rock 30 to talk about his debut album, Can’t Cry, the hit single “Sour,” and why he still believes a full-length album matters in today’s streaming world.

SOUR

During the conversation, Ryan reflects on growing up on his grandparents’ dairy farm near Buffalo, New York, how social media became a bridge to his original music instead of the destination, and why releasing an entire album was important to him despite an industry increasingly driven by singles and playlists. He also shares the story behind “Sour,” discusses signing with Big Machine Rock, and looks ahead to opening this fall on Daughtry’s 20 Years Unplugged Tour.  Along the way, he explains why the songs that never become radio singles are often the ones that create lifelong fans.

Heavy Eyes

Ryan also opens up about the influence of ’90s rock, songwriting, protecting his voice on the road, the family support that helped shape his career, and the meaning behind the album title Can’t Cry.  For a first Rock 30 appearance, Ryan comes across exactly the way you’d hope an emerging artist would—humble, thoughtful, and focused on making music that lasts longer than the next viral moment.  Ryan Perdz’s debut album, Can’t Cry, arrives August 14, 2026.
