New Years Day released their album Half Black Heart March 1, 2024. When Ash was asked about the line, “There’s beauty in the scars of this half black heart” she replied, “I’ve gone through a lot of hardships and I’ve gone through a lot of hurt, a lot of betrayal and pain. It’s like everyone else, but here I am today, happy and healthy and thriving. So to be, I look back, it’s like I can’t change it. It’s led me to such beautiful places eventually. So yeah, there’s beauty in the stars.”
