Eva Under Fire May 16-17, 2026
It’s been four years since Eva Under Fire last co-hosted the Rock 30, and this return hits at exactly the right moment. With the new album Villainous arriving July 10 and a major tour with Five Finger Death Punch on deck, Eva Marie — now also publicly embracing Amanda Lyberg more openly — sounds like an artist who finally feels fully in control of the band’s identity. During our conversation, she opened up about the long build toward album two, the emotional weight behind the songs, and why Villainous became the most honest record Eva Under Fire has made so far.

Villainous
One of the biggest talking points surrounding Villainous is the title track collaboration with Maria Brink from In This Moment. Amanda described the experience as a genuine full-circle moment, calling Brink the “mother of metal” and praising not only her voice but the intensity and theatricality she brings to everything she touches. What stood out most during the interview was how naturally the collaboration came together — from the song itself to Maria jumping into the music video and personally reaching out afterward. Amanda also talked about how the Detroit roots of Eva Under Fire still shape the band’s mindset today, especially after watching parts of their local music scene disappear during the pandemic years.
Mental Health
As always, one of the strongest parts of talking with Amanda is how effortlessly the conversation moves between music and mental health. As a licensed therapist, she spoke passionately about self-discovery, learning how to reclaim your voice, and why authenticity matters more now than ever — both in songwriting and in life. She also gave major praise to producer Scott Stevens for helping unlock new creative territory on this album while still protecting the emotional core of the songs. With Villainous set to launch a massive new chapter for Eva Under Fire, one thing became very clear during this interview: the band isn’t interested in simply surviving anymore — they’re ready to own the moment.
