Des Rocs has built his career by continuing down roads where most reasonable people would have stopped. Making To Hell and Back put that instinct to the test through back problems, an injured voice and the challenge of surrendering some control to producer Joe Chiccarelli. The result carries the pain of its creation—but also the sound of an artist who believes the struggle belongs in the music.
When the Love Is Gone
“When the Love Is Gone” came from losing something that meant everything. Des doesn’t want to tell listeners exactly what they should take from it. He hopes the song can meet people wherever they are and give them three and a half minutes of rock-and-roll escape. When an audience sings it back, that private pain becomes something he describes as spiritual.
