The World Changed the Way They Make Music
Five years after their first Rock 30 appearance, Greta Van Fleet return with a very different perspective. Jake Kiszka and Danny Wagner join LA Lloyd to talk about what changed after years of touring the world, how they went from young musicians who barely understood what was happening on the other side of the studio glass to taking much more control of their records, and why Palace for the People reflects far more than just where the band came from.
Play Your Games
One of the most revealing parts of the conversation is how Greta Van Fleet still refuses to treat a song as completely finished. Even after something is recorded and released, the band continues reshaping it through rehearsals, improvisation and the nightly energy of a live show. That same sense of evolution runs through Palace for the People. Jake and Danny explain why “Play Your Games” gave fans something familiar before the band began opening the door to the more adventurous side of the record.
Dreams Come True
Success has also turned out to look different from what they imagined when they were starting out in Michigan. Danny talks about the unglamorous reality of all the travel between the shows, while Jake says one of the most rewarding parts is looking into a crowd and seeing three generations of fans together. And when Lloyd asks for a moment they still can’t believe actually happened, the conversation goes back to childhood dreams of someday playing places like Royal Albert Hall and Madison Square Garden — dreams that eventually became real.
