Chris Robertson is the vocalist for Black Stone Cherry. He returns as LA Lloyd’s guest to co-host the Rock 30 for his 15th appearance. The band has reached some big milestones since they first were on the show back in 2006. One of the biggest accomplishments is playing the legendary Royal Albert Hall. And how does it feel as a performer? As Chris explains, “It was spiritual. You know, that venue is, it’s legendary, not only musically, but the arts and just royalty and everything, you know. So walking in that place that day, it was just kind of like there’s a feeling you get when you walk in.And when you walk on the stage and The lights go down, man. It’s just, it’s kind of pure magic.”
Losing A Parent
Chris Robertson and LA Lloyd discuss the pain of losing a parent. Chris lost his Father in 2021 and Lloyd lost his Mom in 2023. This loss obviously affected Chris but also led to some deep lyrics on the Black Stone Cherry album Screamin’ At The Sky. As Chris explains, “you know, obviously the stuff I went through from 2018 up until my dad passed with him after his diagnosis, has heavily influenced my input on the songs. You know, we all write together and everything. But, you know, each guy kind of brings their own thing to it. And, you know, for me, the screamin’ at the sky is a whole lot of releasing stuff, you know, letting go. And whether that be by choice or by the circumstances of the world, you know, you lose somebody that you’re that close to. That loss is an immeasurable loss, in my opinion.”
