Sleep When I’m Dead

Autumn Kings has been doing a lot of growing since their last appearance on the Rock 30 March 22, 2025.  After being one of the first rock bands to fully embrace AI in a music video, they set out to share their music with the world.  They completed a  successful European tour March-April 2025 while working hard writing and releasing new music.  Sleep When I’m Dead reached #16 on the chart which is not too bad for a band’s debut single.

Hellbound

Autumn Kings is hellbound.  While that may sound like a bad one-way trip straight into a downward spiral, it is completely the opposite.  How is it possible to write a dark and heavy song musically but the lyrics are happy?  According to their vocalist Jake Diab, “It’s not easy doing that. I do think we have an advantage in a rock music where fans are a little more accepting of dark undertones musically and even lyrically. So that wasn’t as much a challenge, but I think the big challenge was making it unique, melding the influences of what I grew up listening to, like from my Dad, and keeping it in a straightforward rock format. That’s never an easy thing to do. And one of the things we try to often do is have musical dichotomy where the music will be very dark sounding and the lyrics will be happy.  And it creates this strange tension in the listener’s mind that somehow keeps them enthralled in the whole experience.”
